A Special Thanks to Milwaukee Public Schools

I would like to use this space to thank the Milwaukee Public Schools for giving us the opportunity to conduct a photo shoot this week at one of its elementary schools. The photos of students enjoying breakfast and afterschool meals will be featured on our new E S Foods website – watch for the unveiling soon!  Our camera crew descended upon Clement Avenue School on Monday, June 8, to capture the smiling faces of first and fifth graders as they ate Breakfast BREAKS in their classrooms and Meal BREAKS for afterschool snack in other locations in the school. Kids also sampled our newest product, American Cheese singles, which was naturally a hit.

A special thanks to Deb Bruner, RD, CD, Supervising Dietitian, School Nutrition Services for Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) and school principal Susan Gahan for arranging and facilitating this photo shoot. It was a pleasure to work with the great staff and students there.

Like many school districts across the country, MPS provides Classroom Breakfast to students – often regarded as the most effective way to boost school breakfast participation. More and more schools are finding they need to move breakfast from the cafeteria to the classroom where all students can participate at the beginning of the school day. In addition, we are working to educate schools that by switching from basic snack to a “super snack” – for example, offering Meal BREAKS with a milk – schools can receive 4 times the reimbursement.

We can’t wait to share the photos of these cute kids!
