It’s been said that the worst of times can bring out the best in people, and I’m sure you’ll agree that the school foodservice community has risen to the occasion by finding creative and innovative ways to feed children during this pandemic. Every day we are reading about ways school districts have gone above and beyond to get meals to kids, even when they are at home for remote learning. Last month I shared with you the cover story from Time magazine that honored our heroes on the front lines during this pandemic, and among them was middle school cafeteria worker Yolanda Fisher from Dallas. She is out there every day serving meals to kids. As a follow-up, I also want to share with you her inspiring story that was featured on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt on May 8.
