Our new Grilled Cheese and Cheese Singles were a big hit at ANC this year – we hope you stopped by our booth for a sample!  Our new American Cheese Singles are one-ounce single serve protein — how perfect is that for your menu planning? Plus, our new real Grilled Cheese Sandwich is actually made on a griddle.  As you gear up for back-to-school time, be sure to consider these options for your menus.

This year at the School Nutrition Association’s Annual National Conference (ANC), July 12-15, in Salt Lake City, our focus was to show you how we’ve got you covered all day – breakfast, lunch, snack and afterschool!  From before the bell until afterschool, these new menu options are sure to make your job easier and keep your students asking for “more cheese, please.” Here’s a sampling if you missed us at ANC:

  • BREAKFAST:  For starters, Breakfast Breaks remains E S Foods’ flagship brand that is always improving and expanding. There are now so many varieties in all new eye-popping packaging. These nutritious, portion-controlled meals are perfect for classroom breakfast.  Meal options include muffins, muffin tops, cereal bars, toaster pastries, bagels, cereal, yogurt, cheese singles, fresh fruit, and 1-cup fruit options.
  • LUNCH: How about a REAL Grilled Cheese sandwich?  E S Foods’s new, individually-wrapped Grilled Cheese is not your typical toasted cheese sandwich commonly found in school foodservice – it is made on a griddle. Yes, we actually grill the sandwich bread on a griddle, and it is whole grain rich, low fat, low sodium and contributes grain and protein for child nutrition guidelines.   Another cheese product being introduced is E S Foods’ new Cheese Singles – a quintessential kid-favorite.  The individually-wrapped Cheese Singles are available as a one-ounce, single serve protein.  They are reduced-fat, reduced sodium, traditional American cheese.  Cheese Singles are 20% lower cost than string cheese and 40% lower cost than cheese squares. What’s more, they can be commodity processed using barrel cheese, one of the few commodities that remain readily available
  • SMART SNACKS & AFTERSCHOOL:  E S Foods offers a variety of snack options including whole wheat crackers, granola and animal crackers – all peanut free and whole grain rich. The Cheese Singles are a great new option here too.   When it comes to afterschool, more and more students are staying on site for activities but are still hungry. You can upgrade snacks to meals to receive up to four times the reimbursement. Instead of handing kids a snack and a juice, for example, give them a Meal BREAKS and a milk to get four times the reimbursement.
